Feeling sicks…
Hell I FINALLY went to track practice yesterday and now I feel like shit.
Seriously, like a big fat stinkin piece of horse crap or something. I’m so outta it. Last night when I was trying to sleep, my head hurt, my stomach hurt, and my legs hurt. This morning upon waking up, the underside of my arms hurt, my whole entire lower back hurts, my legs hurt, and I have a dry throat. Damn it. I don’t even want to go to practice today.
Maybe I don’t even want to join track this year. Now I feel stupid for not going to the practices earlier. Now I join after a month into the sport and it’s the toughest time for the workouts. I feel like crap. >.< Becker was like, “It’s what you get for not going to practice.” Well, DUH. But now I wish I did.
After practice, Kevin’s mom invited Catherine and I to dinner to thank us for hosting the Chinese New Year show in the library on Saturday. We went to Sushimaru. I had a stomach ache throughout dinner. I liked the tea there (I drank 3 cups). It was fun going out like that.
A Week in Taiwan
Ok, it’s been a week since I came back from attending my grandpa’s funeral at Taiwan.
Saturday: Finished packing and played guitar hero with my brothers until 9 am. My dad drove to the San Francisco airport and we parked the car in the long-term parking section (the price is $14 a day!! O_O) Rode the shuttle to the airport and checked in. Then we ate some food at the airport: 3 tiny pieces of frenh toast for 9 bucks. Yup. Got on the airplane and sat around for an hour, then they served snacks. My side only got drinks =____=. Lol. The service sucked. Then they served lunch. We sat in row 41, which was te 3rd to last row on the plane, so we didn’t have a choice of a man meal because one was aready all give out. The ride to Taiwan was 14 hours long @_@. I nearly died on the plane (I couldn’t sleep correctly and had a stiff neck, my butt hurt from sitting so long, no blood was circulating to my legs, and my nose were hecka dry). Somewhere along the way, I watched Rush Hour 3 (second time and not as funny) and Martian Child (cute movie, I almost cried), did my french homework, read the book I brought, played gameboy advance, and pigged out on candies. 2 hours before arrival, they started serving lunch. We got a hot turkey cheese sandwich. Have you seen sandwiches served on an airplane? Not that I’m complaining, cause it was good. Loved the Knotts cookies too. Stole one of my brother’s.
Sunday: We arrived in Taiwan at around 7:30 PM. When the man over there was checking our passports, he thought the passport of Allen was Asher’s. xDDDD It was hilarious cause the photo of Allen was taken only a year ago, and he changed SO much in that year. When we were retrieving out bags, we saw those beagles trained to sniff out vegetables or meat in people’s bags. It was so cute >.< My 2nd aunt and uncle picked us up and drove us to my grandparent’s (dad’s side) house. Since I’ve been sitting for 14 hours straight, I wanted to go to shop in Taiwan’s night market, so my grandma came out with us. We ate hot tofu soup (with pearls and red beans and this mochi things I can’t name), shared a chicken sandwich, and had sauteed tofus, bean curd, pig blood, and tempura. Lol. No one can resist Taiwan’s food.
Monday: Went to my other grandparent’s house and saw my mom. My two aunts and uncles were there too. I kinda just lounged around for the whole day. Walked to a mini mart and bought a drink and a candy. Went to the bookstore in the afternoon to buy my grandpa a card (so we can send it to him along with the other money and house that we were going to burn). Around 6, my family and my two uncle’s family walked to this store where they read song poetry for the deceased. We all piled into a little room and stood with our palms put together in front of our chest and bowed to my grandpa when we were instructed. This took 4 hours. Afterwards, at around 10, the people at the store drove us to a more isolated area to burn money and other items so we can send it to our grandpa. We had to hold hands around the small shaft used for burning so that other evil spirits would not steal the items we are sending. Then they drove us back to my mom’s parent’s house. My dad took Allen and I home (because Asher already fell asleep at the house because he didn’t go to preach with us). We arrived back at my dad’s side’s house at 12-ish.
Tuesday: Went to see my mom again at her house in the morning. Attended my grandpa’s funeral in the early afternoon (about 1 PM). After more preaching and bowing to my grandpa, we went into a hall that leads to the back where all the corpse were kept. My elders kept telling us to look straight forward and don’t wander to other corpse. Only the sons and daughters of my grandpa and their family were allowed in the back. I walked with my brother in the very end of the line and had to make sure my 2 smaller cousins and my brother didn’t look at anything else. It was a frightening feeling. The people there told my uncles and my mom to make sure that the body was indeed my grandpa’s. We walked back out to the front again to preach more, and then we went behind the sand of flowers and food to preach around my grandpa’s body. I was okay at the funeral until I actually saw my grandpa’s face (after the people there had cleaned him up and put make up on him..) and the people surrounding him cry. Then I started crying and couldn’t stop. Half was because it was then that I actually felt the loss; that I won’t be seeing him again. The other half was because all my family members were crying (especially my mom) and it affected me. After we wished our grandpa prosperity and good health, we went to the front again. Then all of my grandpa’s relatives, friends, classmates, workmates, and anyone who new him came to bow for and remember him. At around 4, we were driven to another place where the corpse would be burnt to ashes. Only my mom, both of my uncles, and one of my aunt stayed. The rest of us went back to my grandma’s house. That night, my mom went with us back to my granparent’s (dad) place.
Wednesday (New Year’s Eve): Went to the supermarket with my mom and grandma. The market in Taiwan is outdoor and one of the most homeland stuff there. I bought two wrinkly jeans, but my mom wants one of them xD Then we went to a road stand to buy noodles for lunch. Walked back to the house and ate lunch. My mom and I went out again in th afternoon to shop in the store located in the night market area (it has 3 stories!) After an hour of 2 of looking and trying on things, I bought a wrinkly jean, one of those cute asian tie top thingys, and a vest for Michelle. There were SO MANY jeans there, it was crazy. When I tried on two of the shorts, my legs hella scared me. God, during X-country season, I thought I was begining to tone up the muscles of my legs and it was looking nicer. Now after more than a month, it look like CRAP. I think my legs were always the most awful looking thing on me, with its natural thinkness and weird curve. =_______= Ah well, at least I can run pretty fast with them. MY 3rd aunt came over that night and we celebrated New Year’s Eve with hot pot. My aunt bought some pearl milk tea and we got some (the pearls are GOOD; can’t be compared to the ones here). Everyone except my two brothers (they went to sleep already) sang Karaoke until 11:30 PM. Then I got tired and went to sleep.
Thursday: HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR! Hung around the house the entire morning. My whole family went to Xi Men. We rode the subway there and browsed around the underground shopping place. Bought some snacks and CDs. Then we went Xi Men Ding (a place where teenagers go on dates because of all the stores opened there). Shopped around and ate dinner there. My mom bought two long sweaters (latest style there). We rode the subway back and bought some barbecued born on the cob. MY 3rd aunt and her boyfriend was at the house when we arrived back. My dad played Mah Jong with them and my grandparents late into the night. I was watching TV in my room and then I went to sleep.
Friday: Went to eat at a buffet with my grandma (mom) and my uncle’s family (younger one). The buffest was hecka good. They had a seafood section, noodle section (complete with all the already made udon bowls or self-made materials), bread section (with buns or french bread, with garlic butter or plain butter which you can spread and toast in the ovens), a juice sectionwith 6 different kinds of juices, ice cream section with Haagen Daaz and some other brand I don’t know of, salad & fruit and dessert (there was 6 different kinds of cake, fruit tarts, and cream puffs plus mousse), a sushi section where you can ask them to make hand rolls for you too, and a tempura section. God it was one of the best buffets ever. I even ate the ice cream even though I’m not supposed to be eating anything cold (since my period has been abnormal). The best part was I didn’t even feel STUFFED. In all my life, I’ve stuffed myself at buffets to the point of not being able to breathe. I felt full after the meall, but I wasn’t BLOATED. YAY! Went to the bookstore in the afternoon and bought 3 Nana comic books and a Play magazine. Ate dinner at my grandma’s and then went to my 2nd uncle and aunt’s second apartment. All my relatives on my dad’s side were there. Received red envelopes. Played Texas hold’em and lost 300 NT to all my relatives (money from my 3rd and 4th aunt). Ate a whole bunch of chocolates and sweet peanuts. Got sick and laid around watching TV. Went home at 12ish.
Saturday: Went to eat at a sushi place for lunch with all my relatives from my dad’s side. Sushi was good, but we ordered too much and ended up with so much leftovers. Then we all went to my 2nd aunt and uncle’s house again. Played Texas hold’em a little and ate more junk. Watched TV and played some video game. Had a great laugh watching Big Brother of Entertainment where they invited all of the professional magician judges that had been judging and determining which participants win and get to stay, and which lose and are fired (and part of the show started last summer). It was hilarious seeing the magicians so out of themselves because they have to perform something out of their league and getting bashed by other judges. xDDDD God one of the magicians (the younger ones) was so cute, and he had a nice voice while singing, even though he wasn’t all that in tune and looked as nervous as hell (funny thing is he’s hecka confident when he’s performing magic tricks). Hilarious. The guy’s called Lu Chen and he’s World Champ. Yup, from Taiwan too. Taiwanese pride! Go search him up on youtube. He’s got great magics that do not require many fancy materials either.
Sunday: Left Taiwan at 2. Ate at the restuarants at the airport with my grandparents before leaving. Bought some tofu soup at this store and got cheated on. The lady at the cashier (not smiling either) did my bowl and she gave me barely ANY tofu. Even the other guy working there saw the amount and wore a face like “WTH that LITTLE? Should I add more?” But he didn’t…… ;;_;; Cheap ass. God, when she was scraping it it looked like she was TRYING HARD NOT TO GIVE ME A LOT. WTH? And I paid triple the amount I have to pay if I bought the tofu anywhere else (and it would be better tasting and in a bigger bowl too). Lol. The fly back was 10 hours. The service was a lot better on this ride, but we sat even closer to the end of the plane; 2nd to last. And out of ALL the seats on the plane, my brother and I gets the two that has screens not working (each person has his/her personal screen on the back of the head of the front seat). =_______= So I traded with my dad and ended up sitting next to Asher, who annoyed me the whole way back and only gave me a little more than an hour of sleep. I’m sleep deprived.
And that is why this whole week I’ve been feeling hella exhausted even though I’ve been going to sleep at 10:30 pm everyday…..
